Review and marketplace

Prepare your listing, submit it for review, publish, use install links, and see which version a club gets

An app only appears in the marketplace after CheckCourt has reviewed it. Until then, you reach clubs through install links. You can use both in parallel.

Publishing is being enabled gradually

Whether you can submit right now is shown on the Marktplatz (marketplace) card in your app's Allgemein (general) tab: „Veröffentlichen ist freigeschaltet“ (publishing is enabled) or „Veröffentlichen im Marktplatz ist noch nicht freigeschaltet“ (publishing to the marketplace is not enabled yet). While publishing is off, clubs see no marketplace. Once it is on, every club sees it unless support switched it off for that club.

The listing

In the Eintrag (listing) tab you describe the app the way clubs and members see it. Write for club board members, not for developers. The Vorschau (preview) next to it shows the listing from the point of view of a club or a member, with the permissions of the latest version.

Icon and screenshots

Requirements
IconSquare, at least 128 × 128 pixels, at most 512 KB. CheckCourt stores it at 256 × 256 pixels
ScreenshotsUp to 5, each at most 2 MB and 8,000 pixels per side. CheckCourt scales them down to at most 2,000 pixels per side
FormatsPNG, JPEG or WebP. What counts is the file's content, not its extension

You change the order of the screenshots with the arrows.

Submission requirements

The Marktplatz card lists what is still missing. You can only submit once everything is in place:

  • Version: a new, not yet reviewed version, newer than the published one
  • Manifest with https URLs only, no development URLs
  • Organisation (organization): company name as in your legal notice, contact email and a link to your privacy policy
  • AVV template (data processing agreement) if the manifest has "avvRequired": true
  • Listing: short description, description, category, icon and at least one screenshot

Only one review can run per app at a time.

Process

Submit

On the Marktplatz card, click Version … zur Prüfung einreichen (submit version … for review). The listing is captured as it is at that moment and reviewed along with the version. The app moves to the In Prüfung (in review) status. For an app that is already published, the previous version stays in the marketplace until the new one is approved.

Any member of the organization can submit. With Einreichung zurückziehen (withdraw submission) you pull the submission back and can submit the same version again later.

CheckCourt reviews

The support team works through a fixed checklist. Every item must be met:

  1. Purpose matches the permissions. Does the app only ask for what it needs for the purpose stated in the manifest?
  2. Privacy information is complete. Are the data categories, purpose and storage location correct?
  3. AVV present, if required.
  4. Tested in the sandbox club. Support installs the app in your sandbox club and tries it out. Keep a working state available there.
  5. Extensions follow the design and copy rules. German copy in sentence case, no em dashes, a calm presentation. The details are in the design guidelines.

For a new version, support sees exactly what is added compared to the last approved one: new scopes, events, extension points and their URLs, data categories, a change of storage location. The webhook URL and the redirect URLs you have changed since the last approval are listed as well.

Four eyes: Whoever uploaded or submitted a version does not approve it themselves. The same applies to everyone who belongs to your organization or has belonged to it in the last 90 days.

Result

All members of your organization get an email.

  • Freigegeben (approved): The app is Veröffentlicht (published) and visible in the marketplace. Installations that can receive this version without new consent switch automatically.
  • Abgelehnt (rejected): The support team's reasoning is shown on the Marktplatz card and on the version in the Versionen (versions) tab under „Hinweis aus der Prüfung“ (note from the review). A rejected version cannot be submitted again: upload a new one and submit that.

Every new version is reviewed

Even after publishing, no version reaches the marketplace without review. When you upload a new one, it runs immediately in your sandbox club and in clubs with a prerelease. Clubs from the marketplace only get it after approval.

The webhook URL and redirect URLs, on the other hand, take effect immediately, because they point to your own backend. They are looked at retroactively in the next review.

Have only the listing reviewed

Once the app is published, its marketplace listing is frozen: clubs from the marketplace see the name, icon, copy, screenshots, URLs and your organization's details as they were approved. If you change any of these, the Marktplatz card shows „Dein Eintrag weicht vom geprüften ab“ (your listing differs from the reviewed one) with the changed fields.

With Eintrag zur Prüfung einreichen (submit listing for review) you have only the listing reviewed, without a new version. Until approval, clubs see the previous listing. Clubs that enabled the app through an install link always see the listing in its current form.

Remove from the marketplace

Owners of the organization can withdraw a published app with Aus dem Marktplatz nehmen (remove from marketplace). Then:

  • Clubs can no longer find the app and cannot install it again.
  • Existing installations and member connections keep running on the last approved version, so no club loses data or functionality.
  • A running review is ended.
  • The app is then set to Privat (private). Publishing it again requires a new review.

If CheckCourt suspends an app, for example because of a violation or a security problem, all tokens become invalid immediately and the app no longer appears anywhere. The portal then shows „CheckCourt hat diese App gesperrt.“ (CheckCourt has suspended this app.) with the reason.

For pilot clubs and apps that should not go into the marketplace, you enable specific clubs:

  1. Set the app to Privat in the Allgemein tab. This requires a manifest and, if the manifest asks for it, an AVV template.
  2. In the Freigaben (access) tab, click Link erstellen (create link). Optionally you set a Bezeichnung (label, up to 80 characters, only for you) and a validity in days (1 to 365, otherwise unlimited).
  3. Send the link to the club's admin. It is shown only once and has the form https://app.checkcourt.de/admin/apps/link/ccil_….

Whoever opens the link and is allowed to Apps verwalten (manage apps) in the club sees the permissions and data processing, and enables the app with Für unseren Verein freischalten und installieren (enable and install for our club). Member-only apps are not installed in this step; instead they are allowed for members with Für Mitglieder freigeben (allow for members).

Under Freigeschaltete Vereine (enabled clubs) you see who has enabled the app. A link can be widerrufen (revoked). Clubs that have already used it keep their access until you remove it individually with Entfernen (remove). Even then, existing installations keep running; the club just cannot install the app again.

Which version a club gets

One rule applies to each club, depending on how it got the app:

AccessVersion
Your sandbox clubAlways the latest uploaded
Link with prereleaseAlways the latest uploaded
Normal linkThe approved version. Before the first approval, the latest uploaded
MarketplaceOnly the approved version

This applies to new installations, to members who connect the app, and to updates. When the matching version changes, for example after an upload or an approval, installations get it automatically as long as it does not need new consent. Otherwise the installation waits with Update wartet (update pending) for the club, or with Neue Rechte (new permissions) for the member, and the previous version keeps running. What needs consent is described in the manifest reference.

What clubs see

Under Admin → Apps → App hinzufügen (Admin → Apps → Add app), your app appears

  • under Für euren Verein freigeschaltet (enabled for your club) if the club enabled it through a link or it is your sandbox club,
  • under Marktplatz if it is published and the club has the marketplace (the default).

The card shows the icon, name, provider, short description and category, and for verified organizations also Verifizierter Anbieter (verified provider). The detail page shows the description, screenshots, version, price, the permissions in German, the events, the places where the app appears in CheckCourt, and the data processing including the AVV. Members see member apps that their club allows under Einstellungen → Apps entdecken (Settings → Discover apps).

CheckCourt decides whether your organization counts as verified. Contact support if you would like to be verified.
